<td>Process rolls, like steel calender rolls, laminating rolls or backing rolls that get contaminated from the process, product, or by airborne contamination can be cleaned by one of many Polymag Tek Process Roll Cleaners. A laminating roll cleaner, calender roll cleaner, chill roll cleaner or backing roll cleaner are a few examples of roll cleaners that are custom designed and manufactured by Polymag®.
Process roll cleaners developed by Polymag® use either the contact cleaning roll technology for dry loose surface contamination or scrubbing contact devices to mechanically loosen and remove contamination without process roll damages. </td>

<td>The Cimbria Cyclofan is a combination of a fan and a highly efficient mechanical dust separator, specially developed to process moist air from grain dryers. The effective separation of dust particles is based on the centrifugal force in a rotating air-stream, which is obtained by a specially designed centrifugal impeller and increased by means of guide vanes. The powerful rotation hurls the dust particles against the cylinder walls, where the dust-laden air is separated from the rest of the air in the separation section and led to the mini cyclone. The mini cyclone separates the remaining air - approximately 5 %of the total amount of air - from the dust, which is then discharged through an air lock valve into a bag or a dust container.</td>

Shock waves formed in the venturi travel downward and release caked dust from the bag exterior and then collects the dust in the discharge cone.

<td>Agitation of the product during the process provides rapid heat penetration by forced convection, reducing greatly the whole heat treatment to be applied: Coming up time, holding time, and cooling time. Combined with a high & constant temperature, the agitation allows the use of very short processing times for a better quality product. Perfect control of the sterilizing and cooking processes ensure: an even lighter heat treatment and an excellent product homogeneity, no local overcooking, and optimal sterilization Fo values.</td>

<td>For small wineries, maintaining the cleanliness of caps and corks on the bottling line is a fairly simple matter. They arrive in bags of 1,000 corks or 2,000 capsules. As long as a spot check yields no corks with more than 2 milligrams of dust per cork, the industry standard recommended by the Cork Quality Council, then they’re good to go. Staff rips open a bag and loads them into the hopper, which feeds the bottling line. Depending on line speeds, they’ll last a few hours—and then it’s time for another bag.</td>

<td>A clean room by itself doesn't prevent static electricity and if you want to remove inert particles without using a water wash process prior to the parts entering the clean room, it’s an even bigger challenge. All too often, the manufacturing debris on components is not soil (foreign material), but rather clean dry particles of the same composition as the finished assembly. Wiping or blowing particles off doesn’t address the problem of statically charged surfaces or the statically charged particles you are trying to remove. By using an air knife with ionizing bar you can remove particles and eliminate static attraction. </td>

<td>Combustible dust, as defined by the NFPA, is any finely divided solid material that is 420 microns or smaller in diameter and presents a fire or explosion hazard when dispersed and ignited in air. Through milling, sanding, grinding crushing or cutting, general manufacturing often generates large amounts of dust that settles on equipment and facility structure surfaces. If fire ignites in a contained area where combustible dust particles have accumulated, such as a duct system or overhead beam, the formula for an explosion is complete, and while an initial blast can be devastating, it often stirs up additional dust that can ignite, leading to a secondary blast that can destroy an entire facility.

<td>Knowing how to calculate the amount of weld fumes and, in turn, how to capture those fumes and provide clean air in the working environment has become especially important in light of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) new regulation for employee exposure to hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)). Hexavalent chromium is a natural metal used in the manufacture of stainless steel. Even before the new Cr(VI) exposure regulation, OSHA had established limits of 5 mg/m3 for carbon steel and other types of welding to protect the health of welders and employees in the surrounding area. </td>

<td>Why consume expensive downtime to precoat (or seed) your dust collector’s new filters? One good reason: Dust and fine particles 0.5 microns or smaller can leak right through a new bag or cartridge filter’s pores, working their way deep into the media to the point of blinding, or clogging, the filter and slowing or stopping airflow through your collector. So if your dust particles are smaller than 10 microns, taking the time to pretreat your new filters’ media surface with a dry precoating material — such as agricultural lime or diatomaceous earth — is smart.</td>

<td>The design and location of a weld fume dust collection system’s hood, ducting, collector, and fan can collectively add sufficient static pressure requirements to the point where larger, more expensive to operate motors are necessary to maintain effectiveness. Optimizing these areas can make it possible to use smaller, more energy efficient brake horsepower motors. The electrical savings potential for a simple ducted weld fume dust control system is at least $1800 per year, and significantly more for larger systems. </td>

<td>One of Dee Sign’s largest customers requested a new look for their signs. After determining that they couldn’t find a satisfactory source to produce pre-cut boards for these new signs, Dee Sign executives decided to cut the signs themselves. Since they would now be cutting 10 to 15 pieces of fiberboard at a time, several hazardous situations arose: abundance of dust disposal because sawing a large amount of fiberboard at once creates very fine sub-micron particles, which can be hazardous when inhaled, saw is located next to paint finishing area; the sawdust could damage the sign’s finish and sawdust is potentially an explosive material. Dee Sign had to invest in a CNC beam saw and an effective dust collection system.</td>

<td>The large filtration facility uses seven different filter manufacturing lines throughout its 260,000 square foot building. Each production line created a thick haze of particulate where fiberglass rolls are cut, glass is broken and where fiberglass media is inserted into a cardboard frame. Because dust was released in several places, it made the fiberglass particulate difficult to capture. Also, standard air cleaning equipment designs are not equipped to capture the large amount of dust produced in this facility. Dust settled on machinery as well as employees’ clothing, hair and into their eyes. Even though employees wore safety glasses, fiberglass contaminants caused daily eye injuries.</td>

Available in an assortment of media—including Protura® Nanofiber—UAS cartridge filters rank among the highest in performance, efficiency and value. Keep in mind that not all cartridge filters are created equal. Low-cost commodity filters typically have a shorter filter life cycle, lower efficiency rating and actually contribute to an increase in the energy demands of a dust collection system. So in the long run, generic filters end up costing much more in filter replacements, compressed air costs and housekeeping.</td>

<td>Crystal-Aire causes less distraction, because it’s barely visible and audible. Its modules are installed above the ceiling, so it operates more quietly than other large-capacity air cleaners. Using a variety of accessories, Crystal-Aire can be adapted to most building configurations and can serve more than one area or room. It is an effective system that assists with the problem of air mixing when smoking and non-smoking sections are adjacent.</td>

<td>The C Series Cyclone is designed to effectively remove large to moderate-size particles (chips, metal grindings, sawdust) from the air stream. Used alone or in conjunction with another dust collector, the Cyclone separates coarse contaminants from fine, non-visible particles, and exhausts clean air. UAS’ Cyclone dust collector offers airflow capacities ranging from 800 to 13,000 CFM. Its high-efficiency performance is accomplished by means of the unit’s long tapered cone, high-velocity inlet and welded helix. Dirty air enters the unit at a high speed and is then spun around in a spiral motion, throwing particles against its cone wall. </td>

<td>In its powdered ingredients processing facility, Mulligan Sales required both substantial dust collection and constant air conditioning for temperature and humidity control. Running both systems simultaneously was not an option with the company’s existing dust collectors—an external baghouse unit with envelope-type fifi lters and a manual shaker for fi lter cleaning. The existing system vented outside, returning no air back into the mixing and batch-weighing areas. And because the unit would have extracted conditioned air as well, the air conditioning could only be run when the unit was off and the facility was not blending.</td>

<td>A cartridge dust collector is an important investment that impacts employee health and the operation of plant equipment. To achieve optimal performance from that investment requires the system to pulse clean only when necessary—known as “on-demand cleaning.” Dust collectors equipped with United Air Specialists’ Digital Pressure Control (DPC) panel are more likely to save on overall energy costs and filter replacements. That’s because operators are able to set differential pressure levels initiating the collector’s pulse cleaning system. When the pressure exceeds the high point, it pulses until it gets back to an acceptable level. This smart way of cleaning minimizes the number of pulses required.</td>

<td>The SMOG-HOG Porta-Clean is a portable unit designed specifically to eliminate welding smoke and other metal oxide fumes in areas where large pick-up hoods are impractical, smoke producing machinery is used intermittently, or an employee goes from one work station to another. Using electrostatic precipitator (ESP) technology, the PortaClean electrically charges the microscopic contaminants, then captures them much like a magnet in the ESP collection cell. Easily cleaned and reusable aluminum collection components eliminate filter replacement and disposal. And, because each collection cell can hold more than one pound of welding oxide before cleaning is required, maintenance time is minimized.</td>

<td>Special consideration must be taken when choosing an air cleaning system for pharmaceutical processing. Fine dusts and powders emitted during production can pose a threat to the respiratory health of employees and jeopardize the purity of end-products—especially when the dusts are sub-micron in size. United Air Specialists SFC downward flow cartridge dust collectors are the ideal solution for emissions given off during pharmaceutical formulation processes. In addition to powder reclamation, our systems provide cleaner air, longer filter life, easy maintenance and overall cost savings. The SFC is available in a variety of sizes, and can be used full-time or for various batch operations.</td>

<td>When a compound batch leaves the mixer, it drops on to the milling rollers, creating a large cloud of conductive dust. Cooling fans were inadvertently pulling this dust from the ambient air into the DC motors. In a relatively short time (generally three months) this conductive dust would short out the motors, causing trips and an eventual complete motor burnout. As a result, each motor required a complete rebuild once every quarter, costing between $40,000 and $50,000 per year. Additionally, there is significant downtime for the six to eight hours required to replace each motor.</td>

<td>Call it “The Best of Both Worlds”! Today, for a dust collector to perform to its full potential and your expectations, it is important to use the advanced surface-loading capabilities of nanofiber filters instead of traditional commodity filters. The combination of nanofiber filtration in conjunction with an optimized downward flow dust collector will result in less pulse cleaning cycles (less compressed air use) and significantly longer filter life. Most importantly, this combination, in addition to maximizing overall system performance and efficiency, will bring significant savings in energy and operational costs.</td>

<td>Thermal spray utilizes a heat source to melt material and propel it toward a prepared surface by expanding process gasses. Most of the material sprayed at Thermal Spray Technologies is stainless steel or another chromium-bearing material. A by-product of the spray chromium is the pollutant hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)). Thermal Spray Technologies was in compliance with the pre-existing Cr(VI) limits of 52 ?g/m3. But when OSHA lowered the Cr(VI) permissible exposure limit (PEL) by a factor of 10, to an eight-hour time weighted average exposure limit of 5?g/m3 of Cr(VI), management realized there was no way they could meet the new regulation with their existing media filtration source capture system.</td>

<td>Depending on workload requirements, 15 to 20 welders can be welding at the same time in Cherubini’s large open workspace. The resulting weld smoke and fumes can harmfully affect the plant environment unless they are successfully captured and clean air is maintained. Typically, source capture systems do the best job of capturing weld fume contaminants with the least amount of air volume requirement or CFM. Source capture systems include fume collection hoods, ducting, an air cleaning device and air moving devices (fans). But in a large, open facility like Cherubini’s, with overhead cranes and large fabricated structural pieces, a source capture system was impractical.</td>

<td>Trostel Ltd., headquartered in Lake Geneva, Wis., designs and manufactures various rubber products for the automotive, agricultural, industrial, and many other markets. The company’s Polymer Compounding Division (PCD) plant in Whitewater, Wis., produces custom rubber compounds that are sent to the company’s molding facilities or sold to customers for manufacturing various end products. In the past, the PCD plant’s four fan-cooled roller mill motors frequently failed prematurely because the motors’ fans pulled in nuisance carbon black dust with the cooling air. Since the failing motors caused high maintenance costs and unacceptable production downtime, the company needed to find a way to increase the motors’ operating life.</td>

<td>Through efficient removal of weld fume particulate, you can protect your workers’ health, improve productivity and reduce lost time due to illness. The most effective method of capturing weld fume particulate from a welder’s breathing zone is to collect it directly at the source. This is a difficult task given that up to 95% of weld fume particulate is submicron (less than 1 micron) in size. Particles in this size range are considered respirable, or so small that they simply pass through the body’s normal filtering system and directly into the lungs. UAS is serious about clearing the air of weld fume particulate, and has developed a unique line of proprietary solutions for welding applications. </td>
