If 2D symbologies are going to be the challenge, you may want to look at both Industrial and Commercial level Two Dimensional Image (2D) readers. These can read not only all of the traditional 1D codes like Code 3 of 9, Interleaved 2 of 5, Code 128, UPC, etc., but also the newer 2D codes like PDF417, DataMatrix, Aztec and MaxiCode that look like honeycombs. And they capture more than just barcodes; they can even capture signatures or pictures.

Full metal cover and up to 10 inch/second speed allows industrial users to print labels with smooth text, graphics and barcodes at 203, 305 or 609 dots/inch just by changing the print head. Specify parallel, serial, USB,Ethernet, RF or AS400 terminal port. Some models can print up to 10.5 inch wide labels, most can print RFID embedded media.

We can offer smart labels with transponder inlays laminated between layers of paper or label material for high volume applications like airline baggage and express parcel identification and tracking. This system operates in either read only or read/write versions and can process multiple tags in the reader field at the same time, at ranges from the gate antenna, which will be determined by the frequency chosen.
